High-fives might soon be the official state greeting of Missouri

In Missouri and Kansas, at least, this is the time of year for politically aware citizens to get upset about the idiotic bills our elected representatives file in the state legislatures. So it’s a nice change of pace when state politicians introduce bills that are still idiotic but that don’t fill us with blind rage.
Courtney Allen Curtis, a freshman House rep from the St. Louis area, recently filed HB 1624, which would designate the high-five as the official state greeting.
“It’s something that I actually do on the floor on a regular basis, I just walk around giving my colleagues high-fives to promote a friendly environment and to make sure that we’re connected so we can actually do the work of the state,” Curtis told FOX 4.
No hearings on HB 1624 have yet been scheduled. The bill is unlikely to gain traction among House members with a record of going down low but being too slow.
