Bar Rescue‘s Kansas City episode airs this Sunday, and it looks hilarious

There is a show on Spike TV called Bar Rescue. As I understand it, the host, a “bar expert” named Jon Taffer – he’s a Goodfellas version of Gordon Ramsay – goes around to struggling bars across the country, humiliates the owners and employees, and then shows them how to turn around their businesses. Word was he was scouting locations around town last year, and this Sunday night, Spike TV will air its episode featuring a KC-area establishment.
The press release notes only that it is a members-only bar in Kansas. Based on the interior shots from the preview video, I can’t tell what bar it might be, but then again, I am not a member of any members-only bars, so I wouldn’t know. (You can tell it’s members-only because everybody in the place is sucking down cigs like it’s the end of the world.)
Update: It’s apparently KC’s Neighborhood Bar and Grill, in Merriam.
What the preview does offer is two-and-a-half minutes of reality-TV absurdity, including Taffer solemnly telling fellow “bar experts” that a bartender’s number one job is to keep customers safe (that’s their number one job?); old hippies kissing each other; a raccoon scampering across the bar top; and a close-up shot of raccoon feces. Watch below and tune in Sunday at 8 p.m. for the full episode.
