Supagroup

On its new self-titled disc, Supagroup brags, Whatever you do, we’re gonna do you one better. And if whatever refers to rock in the most unironic of senses, then dude might just be right. Forget the Swedes’ garage revival, enough with the nü-metal mooks already — Supagroup just wants to rock because to rock is to live. The sound could be called trashy, but the way Supagroup works itself into a fervor and plays with conviction, it comes off as somehow religious. Singer Chris Lee has no time for mincing words, either. Oh yeah, I saw your band. You’ve got that DJ, right? … Well you know what, pal? You and your band … you fucking suck!!! (Extra exclamation points added for Lee’s vehement extra emphasis, which can’t be nearly loud enough in print.)
