Forrester’s ‘Anywhere But Here’ is your Crossroads Summer Block Party song of the day

The third annual Crossroads Summer Block Party is going down tonight! There’s a handful of well chosen acts in the lineup. Chances are, you’re familiar with some of these local favorites, but in case you’re not, we’re counting down to the end of the week with a “song of the day” from one of the bands. Our final installment: Forrester.
Sometimes when I hear the phrase “experimental post-rock,” I recoil in fear of what sounds might follow. It’s not that the sort of music that earns that brand is bad, exactly – it’s just that that sort of phrase excuses a lot of stuff that is. But Lawrence’s Forrester does the genre justice. The band’s SoundCloud page is a delicious collection of atmospheric jams and synth-heavy, washed out gems. It’s blissful and mesmerizing stuff – the way any evening should end. Forrester plays last at tonight’s Crossroads Summer Block Party – don’t miss them.
The Crossroads Summer Block Party is a free event. For more information and to view the lineup, go here.
BONUS: The good people behind the block party have put together a free sampler featuring a song from each of the eight bands playing tonight. Download it here.
