Royals Fountain Lady says she’d like to return to Kauffman Stadium for a playoff game

A year after taking a dip in the fountains of Kauffman Stadium during a Royals game, Fountain Lady is sorry. The Des Moines Register caught up with 26-year-old Jessica McCoy (known in KC as Royals Fountain Lady), who offers no excuses for jumping in the fountain during a Royals-Twins game on August 5, 2013.

McCoy was charged with trespassing for her dip because the fountains are off limits to everyone except maybe SungWoo. She was also charged with resisting arrest and sexual solicitation, which she disputes ever offering a sexual favor to an officer.

“No way,” McCoy told the Register. “I absolutely did not do that.”

The incident didn’t come without costs for McCoy, who “lost a job, a boyfriend and a fair share of pride after an alcohol-fueled vacation,” according to the Register

McCoy admits that she would have done things differently on the day that went from eight hours of drinking to a night in a jail cell using her flip-flops as a pillow.

McCoy told the Register that it’s a rare day when someone doesn’t say something about her ill-fated swim. That’s not hard to believe in our Internet-never-forgets world. Despite it all, McCoy still bleeds blue.

“I hope they make it to the playoffs so I can go watch them,” she told the Register. “I wasn’t trying to make the Royals look bad or humiliate anyone. I just made a big mistake.”

And she promises that she’ll steer clear of the fountains.

“I still like the fountain, I’m just not going to get in it,” she told the paper. “I’ve already been there, done that, right?”

With the Royals in first place and in the playoff chase, hopefully the franchise will forgive and forget, too.
