Lez on Led

Few dudes sans castration can imitate Robert Plant faithfully, so the notion of an all-female Led Zeppelin tribute band seems pretty spot-on. And since there’s probably more than a few meathead headbangers who have secretly dreamed of making love to longhaired rock gods in tight pants, the notion of actual hot chicks performing the Zeppelin catalogue is Kashmir to the classic-rock universe’s collective libido. The NYC-based tribute band Lez Zeppelin fulfills that fantasy with a promise to channel “the mystery and power of the music that was forged by the Hammer of the Gods” (and you thought only guys were gonzo for Zep). The Lezzies perform with more moxie than any Page/Plant reunion tour could possibly muster, and hard-hitting drummer Helen Destroy could likely scare the mustache off the original Bonzo. The lovely Lez comes out at 7:30 tonight at the Uptown Theater (3700 Broadway, 816-753-8665). Tickets are $10.
