Timber the pit bull survives shotgun blast to the head, rescued by Unleashed Pet Rescue (video)

Timber the pit bull was shot in the head at point-blank range with a shotgun. He survived.

Jacob Julius Meyer of New Friends Photography and Design started filming Timber’s story five months ago when the the pit bull was taken in by Unleashed Pet Rescue and Adoption. At the shelter, it was discovered that the bullet shattered his Atlas vertebrae. Luckily, it missed his brain and spinal cord.

The footage shot by Meyer, who has done volunteer photography for the shelter and worked there in the past, follows Timber’s story from Unleashed to his current placement in foster care. Earlier this week, Meyer uploaded the video of Timber’s recovery called Still Smiling. Watch it after the jump.

Heads up: The video, as expected, has some disturbing imagery.

Unleashed is still trying to save its Mission shelter with a Go Fund Me campaign. So far, Unleashed has raised $7,185 of $25,000.
