Irish Longevity

Browne’s Irish Market at 3300 Pennsylvania is calling today’s event its 121st Anniversary Street Fair, but when the Browne clan -— owners of Kansas City’s oldest continuously operating grocery store — closes off Pennsylvania between 33rd and 34th streets today, it will actually be the second street fair for the venerable deli and retail shop. As at last year’s debut fair, created to fete Browne’s 120th anniversary, the festivities — running from 3 to 11 p.m. — include children’s activities (crafts, face painting, a moon walk), a variety of food for sale and Irish beers, of course. Performing on the historic street are the Elders, Eddie Delahunt and the St. Andrew bagpipers. The event is a benefit for children with special educational needs. Call 816-561-0030 for details.
