Tee-Pre

There’s no shame in putting with one hand if you’ve got a beer in the other. At least, that’s the mentality of the Tee Up for Equality golf tournament, a fundraiser for the Human Rights Campaign. In political circles, HRC advocates for gay and lesbian equality but, on the greens, just wants to have a beer-drinking, cocktail-sipping good time. The golf tourney itself isn’t until August 22, but the festivities start today with a pre-party at the Foundry (424 Westport Road, 816-960-0866) from 3 to 6 p.m. Expect cheap drinks, raffle drawings and a little putt-putt action to get you in the mood for the big bash next weekend. There’s no cover for this shindig, but you’ll have to part with $95 to register for the tournament, which includes, in true party fashion, free beer from McCoy’s, catered food from Jazz and a post-game fiesta.
