Textile Expert Saul Yale Barodofsky

Saul Yale Barodofsky, textile expert, will speak on Small pieces as a window into the consciousness of tribal peoples. The tribal belief in the unseen world is present in their weavings and amulets. Barodofsky will explore this ancient tradition and attempt to decode tribal language and beliefs. About 75 to 100 pieces will be shown as examples. His interest is mostly in kilims (flat-woven rugs) and small pieces -things that historically had no commercial value and were traditionally made for family usage.
