Record Swap

Farm Aid and the original “We Are the World” combined charity with music — usually a successful blend. Kansas City adds interactivity to this formula with Record Fair, an event benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. From noon to 7 p.m. at RecordBar (1020 Westport Road), participants can get more than their fill of music, prizes, cheap beer and food. The event’s minimum donation of $10 goes toward the organization (and gets you free food donated by John McClure of Starker’s Restaurant and Phil Groetken of National Beef), but if you bring in at least five records to trade, sell or donate, admission is $5. Visitors get their pick of thousands of records to buy from the local music purveyors Zebedee’s and Earwaxx. Also on tap: live sets by DJs and the Bleach Bloodz, scheduled to perform at 5 p.m.
