DOLL PARTS

They steal the show, even if their performances are a little, um, wooden. They’re dummies, puppets, mannequins, voodoo dolls and marionettes, and let’s face it: They were made to be typecast as vessels for demonic possession. Hence their popularity in horror films dating as far back as 1936’s The Devil-Doll. Screening in six different cities in one night is Horror Remix Presents … Dummy, a cinematic celebration of dolls whose articulated joints and anatomical correctness are animated in the service of pure evil. Hosted by puppet MCs Cheesecake and Thunderclap, the terror ensues at 9:30 p.m. at Studio Movie Grill Zona Rosa (7430 Northwest 87th Street, 816-746-6700), slicing and splicing four so-bad-they’re-good horror features, including 1975’s Trilogy of Terror (starring the legendary Karen Black), 1984’s Black Devil Doll From Hell, and 1988’s Ghosthouse and Pin (featuring Terry O’Quinn, aka Locke from Lost). Admission is free. See horrorremix.com for more details.— Brent Shepherd
