Independence Day at Missouri Town 1855

Let your celebration of Independence Day journey back to the 1850’s as Jackson County Parks & Recreation’s Missouri Town 1855 presents its annual Independence Day Celebration. Appropriately costumed interpreters will share how residents of antebellum Jackson County observed this important date. Beginning with the raising of the flag in the morning, a variety of activities will bring this meaningful period of our history to life. Children can participate in traditional games and become part of history as they actually sign a copy of the Declaration of Independence. Ongoing interpretive demonstrations will highlight the similarities and differences of how we observe the holiday today.
