Handler Hanna

Animal expert and frequent David Letterman guest Jack Hanna may eventually achieve mythical badass status heretofore reserved for Chuck Norris, especially after fending off an angry adolescent grizzly bear with naught but a can of pepper spray. (The real reason that bears hibernate is to hide from Jack Hanna.) But there’s no denying that Hanna has a soft spot for all critters, domestic and wild. One of his main causes is the preservation of endangered species. At 7 p.m., “Jungle Jack” and his exotic animal posse visit Johnson County Community College’s Yardley Hall (12345 College Boulevard in Overland Park, 913-469-4445) for a performance that may contain some unscripted surprises, like that time an anteater relieved itself on Letterman’s jacket. Tickets cost $22 ($18 for kids). See jccc.edu/theseries. — Angela Lutz
