Like They Do On the Discovery Channel

Feeling sexually inhibited in spite of the fact that this is the Hallmark-declared romance season? Perhaps a little reminder that nooky is a totally natural and necessary element of life for us primates — and everyone else in the animal kingdom — is in order. Before you go Googling “doggy style,” head to the Kansas City Zoo (6800 Zoo Drive, 816-513-5800) for its educational presentation “Love and the Animals,” led by animal-courtship expert Ron Magill. Normally, the zoo is family-friendly, but this discussion of the birds and the bees and humping frogs is restricted to those 21 and older. The program begins at 7 p.m., and doors open at 5:30; arrive early for heavy appetizers, a raffle, and a chance to watch the zoo’s resident polar bear cavort in the snow until 6:30 p.m. Admission costs $25 for Friends of the Zoo members and $35 for all others. Get tickets at the door or reserve early at kansascityzoo.org.
