Aaron Park, event planner for CancerviveKC, talks Prom-a-Palooza and more in this week’s Pitch questionnaire
Name: Aaron Park
Occupation: Event planner for CancerviveKC; detail department supervisor, Northtowne VW
Hometown: Kansas City, Missouri
Current neighborhood: North Kansas City
What I do: With help from the other members of CancerviveKC, I plan fundraising events that impact the lives of local families struggling with cancer.
What’s your addiction? Overwhelmingly spicy foods and Rolaids
What’s your game? Royals baseball! I dabble in Tecmo Super Bowl in the offseason.
What’s your drink? Ginger ale … or a pale ale
Where’s dinner? Wings Café is too legit to quit.
What’s on your KC postcard? Our beautiful skyline, of course.
Finish this sentence: “Kansas City got it right when …” We changed Baltimore Avenue to Royals Avenue during the postseason.
“Kansas City screwed up when …” We voted down the rolling roof.
“Kansas City needs …” To win a playoff game!
“In five years, I’ll be …” 31+5 = math is hard.
“I always laugh at …” Fox News Network.
“I’ve been known to binge-watch …” Curb Your Enthusiasm.
“I can’t stop listening to …” The Drive on 610 Sports radio.
“I just read …” Rabbit, Run by John Updike.
The best advice I ever got: Don’t smoke.
Worst advice: The life hack where you turn an empty toilet-paper roll into an amplifier for your iPhone.
My sidekick: You must be confused. I have conversations with myself all of the time.
My dating triumph/tragedy: I once ate an entire Chipotle burrito and finished half of my date’s. Is that triumph or tragedy?
My brush with fame: I met Frank White in a parking garage on the Plaza, where he signed a glove, which will be auctioned off by CancerviveKC in the near future.
My 140-character soapbox: The Passe’ Prom-a-Palooza is coming! Dust off those party boots because CancerviveKC is throwing a benefit you won’t want to miss!
What was the last thing you had to apologize for? Being too busy to spend time with old friends.
Who’s sorry now? Peyton Manning
My recent triumph: At 31 years of age, I once again started recording original music with my band, Let’s Make Loud Noises.
CancerviveKC’s Prom-a-Palooza is Saturday, February 21, at the Monarch Room (1701 McGee), from 7 p.m. to midnight. Tickets cost $20 in advance or $25 at the door. All proceeds go to a local family battling cancer. For more information, see cancervivekc.com.
