To whet your appetite for The Pitch’s annual Best of Kansas City issue, we’re counting down our favorite Top 50 dishes each weekday until October 7.
Fabulous fries? Yes, we’re sounding a lot like like native Kansas Citian Calvin Trillin — that’s right, the legendary Trillin of the grand pronouncements (he once famously called the cheeseburgers at Winstead’s “the best in the world,” which was great for promoting hometown Winstead’s, but not true — ever), but in Fat City, there are no french fries quite like the crunchy golden potato sticks fried up at the iconic East Side barbecue joint, LC’s Bar-B-Q at 5800 Blue Parkway.
And don’t even suggest that these greasy, glorious fried aren’t friggin’ pommes frites. No one wants pommes frites with ribs or brisket. It’s un-American!
