One More Cup’s answer to a rainy day

With a weekend of rain behind us and more rain slated for mid-week, I stopped into One More Cup (7408 Wornall Road) hoping to find an antidote. Manager George Magers was only too happy to oblige when I asked him for what he’d recommend to brighten my spirits.

“Most folks will order something hot, but our diehard ice drinkers,

they’ll always order a toddy, no matter what the weather’s like,” said

Magers, who has been at One More Cup since it opened last February.

After asking what kind of coffee drinks I like, he thought for a minute and then decided on One More Cup’s most popular menu item, the Curious George — two shots of espresso, Shatto chocolate milk and Shatto banana milk.
Light and creamy, basically “a mocha with banana,” the Curious George is three drinks in one. The banana comes through first, but it’s mild. The rich taste of chocolate is next, with the finish of the espresso. Magers makes an outstanding espresso — bright, but not bitter. It’s the best part of the drink.
