Man’s car crushed by falling snow at 35th and Broadway

Tom Powell was working on renovations at Scott Fitness’ newest gym, in the Broadway Valentine Shopping Center, a week and a half ago when he heard yelling coming from the parking lot. Several people outside the Uptown Theater were yelling at workers on the roof of the 10-story Ambassador Apartments (3560 Broadway), who’d sent a mini-avalanche of snow and ice crashing to the street and sidewalk below — and onto Powell’s 2003 Toyota Avalon, parked out front.
Powell says the trunk of his car was completely crushed. His insurance company estimates $1,250 worth of damage. “If it did that type of damage to my car, it would have seriously hurt or killed someone,” Powell says.
