Millie Edwards, KC Jazz Vespers at First Baptist Church of Kansas City

Millie Edwards has a long history in Kansas City as one of the scene’s most talented, though relatively uncelebrated, jazz and blues singers. She has shared her voice with Lori Tucker and Geneva Price as one of the Wild Women of Kansas City (along with local jazz legend Myra Taylor). These days, she can be found co-hosting the Monday-night jams at the Phoenix with guitarist Tom DeMasters. But this Sunday, as part of the First Baptist Church of Kansas City’s monthly KC Jazz Vespers series, you have the rare opportunity to hear Edwards’ dynamic vocal range matched with the exquisite piano of Charles Williams, who is also the keyboardist for the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra. Joining Edwards and Williams are Tyrone Clark on bass and Robert Jolley on drums. Don’t miss this wonderful — and free — show.
