10-year-old shot; injuries are life-threatening
The news in this city is often depressing. A 10-year-old boy was shot Wednesday around 3 p.m. in the 3500 block of East 25th Street.
The boy’s injuries were life-threatening, and he was taken to a local hospital. All the details haven’t come out in this one, yet.
Update (10:39 a.m. Thursday, August 20): Kansas City police say the 10-year-old boy’s condition has been upgraded to “critical, but stable.”
Here’s what police say happened: Two boys, ages 9 and 10, were playing with guns at the home. One of the guns was loaded and discharged, hitting the victim.
No adults were home at the time of the incident. Police are still investigating.
