Tom Waits, Booker T. and Bad Religion release limited 7-inches for Record Store Day this Saturday

Everybody likes record stores. And this Saturday, as I’m sure you know, is National Record Store Day. In only its second year, the vinyl-junkie’s holiday has gotten huge, thanks to big-name recording artists throwing in guitar giveaways, downloads, special-edition re-releases, parties, you name it. Joining the fray are Anti-/Epitaph artists Tom Waits, Booker T. Jones and Bad Religion, all releasing limited-edition 7-inches in commemoration of RSD.

Tom Waits: A three-song 7-inch with tracks cut from his 2007 Glitter & Doom Tour. Side A is “Lucinda” and “Ain’t Goin’ Down to the Well,” recorded in Atlanta. Side B is “Bottom of the World,” recorded in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Booker T.: A 7-inch with two tracks from Potato Hole, his first solo album in over 20 years, on which the Drive-By Truckers are his backing band and Neil Young plays guitar.

Bad Religion: Re-release of the very first Bad Religion record, 1981’s six-song 7-inch. Writes Bad Religion founder and Epitaph owner Brett Gurewitz: “I got my start by going around to record stores like Moby Disc and Middle Earth and giving them The Bad Religion 7″ to sell on consignment. I’d go back every couple of weeks to see if they needed any more and while I was at it I’d always check out the zines, flyers and new punk releases. These places were more than stores, they were gathering places and hubs of information. They were the heart of the LA Hardcore scene and it would never have existed without them.”
