Buddies on Main Street, possibly the cheapest bar in midtown, now BuddiesKC

It’s been four months since Lee Mecker, the new owner of BuddiesKC, took over the freestanding spot at 3715 Main. He’s been working at the gay bar off and on for the past 15 years. Upon his coronation as King of the Bar, he decided that the joint needed a face-lift.

“I took out all that corrugated tin. Every gay bar in the ’70s had that stuff,” he jokes.
