Incoming: Devin the Dude

Not sure how long this has been booked, but I just saw that none other than Houston luminary Devin the Dude is coming to our fair Riot Room on March 20.

I’m fairly new to the Dude, but I’m thoroughly enamored of his laid-back, R&B/funk-influenced, smooth style and his confident yet hilariously self-deprecating narrative flows. In his song-stories, he is the recipient of much weed, booty and bad luck alike. His latest album, Landing Gear, came out on October 7, and features the fine anthem to getting a DUI, “I Can’t Make It Home.”

But if we were to pick one video to show newcomers, it would be the thoroughtly sweet man-and-his-jalopy anthem “Lacville ’79.” Enjoy.

I’m rollin’, car not stolen/Probably will never be; it’s much too olden/Smokin’ weed and feelin’ fine/In my Lacville ’79

Dat’s wassup.
