Owl City sings about toothbrushes, fireflies live at the Uptown in July

Everyone knows that Owl City — that’s Adam Young — really likes to sing about fireflies and teardrops and how his dreams are bursting at the seams and … stuff. But did you know that he also likes to sing about the dentist? A quote from my review of Owl City’s tour kickoff show last winter at the Beaumont: “I’ve been to the dentist a thousand times, so I know the drill, sings Owl City frontman Adam Young, miming brushing his choppers before he lobs his toothbrush into the shrieking crowd.” Really.
Then again, Owl City’s new full-length album, All Things Bright and Beautiful, comes out on May 17. Maybe he’ll have a whole new host of tunes to emote to by the time he stops by the Uptown on July 11.
