Leawood children’s rocker Chris Bihuniak a finalist in International Songwriting Competition

According to Chris Bihuniak‘s extensive song list, “When You Grow Up” falls under “Life Lessons,” sub category: “unconditional love.” We know good material for a song when we see it. And the people behind the International Songwriting Competition claim to know a good song when they hear it. With a list of judges that claims folks as diverse as Tom Waits, Jon Secada, T-Pain, Ricky Martin, Black Francis, Youssou N’Dour, McCoy Tyner, Ray Davies, Jerry Lee Lewis, Robert Smith and quite a few more notables, they certainly seem to have that authority. The ISC is based in Nashville and charges entrants a submission fee, basically $30 per song. The 2008 winner will be announced in April; here’s the complete list.

Bihuniak runs 4 Boys Inc, an “educational music company for learning fun,” which operates a three-tiered rock attack on your brood with bands the Blankies (ages 2-8), Rock Daddy Rock (ages 4-10) and Teacher and the Rockbots (6-12). The money’s good, but we know he really does it for the hot soccer mom action.

Fans can vote for Bihuniak in the People’s Voice section of the ISC competition.
