Free Album Downloads At If You Make It

Some of my favorite bands these days put out most of their stuff on limited vinyl, which means it sells out rather quickly. If you come into a band that’s released something like five singles, two split EPs, and a ten-inch, some of that material’s bound to be out of print if you show up late to the party.

So, how to make this stuff available? Dave Garwacke does it the right way. He gets permission from all the bands involved and hosts mostly demos or out of print material. It’s a great way to let this stuff reach more people and not just fade away. You find releases from Shang-A-Lang, Iron Chic, Banner Pilot, and other stuff at If You Make It.

If You Make It is also home to the Pink Couch Sessions, which came into being like so:

“The Pink Couch Sessions”, [were] born out of my need to control the sound at shows. I hated being left to the mercy of a bad PA, or screaming kids. So I invited people over to record in the privacy of my living room. After the 3rd video, I decided that the lighting was too hectic and bought myself some studio lighting (re: Cheap photo lights). Given that my apartment is on the small side, sometimes it’s pretty tricky to get a good angle or shot, leading me to cut out the second camera. I’ve been getting the word out a lot, and there are tons of great projects coming up.

There are Pink Couch Sessions from Bomb the Music Industry!, Fake Problems, Mike Hale, Andrew Jackson Jihad, and even Vivian Girls. There’s over 72 videos to check out, along with over 33 albums to download, so get crackin’. You’ve bandwidth to waste.
