Pitch archive started online

This week’s cover story recalls the first days of The Pitch, which began in July 1980 as a shotgun wedding of gonzo sensibility and record-store hype.

The staff at the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s LaBudde Special Collections, in the Millers-Nichols Library, has started gathering copies of the print edition from the years predating the paper’s presence online. The issues compiled so far — starting with 1980 in full — are viewable in PDF form here. That’s a whole lot of LeRoi to catch up with.

The library is accepting donations, so if you have a stack of issues from 1982 to 1999 in your basement, click here.
