Larry Wilson tells police that he killed his son’s step-father for alleged sexual abuse

An accusation of sexual abuse may have led to yesterday’s homicide in Independence. Larry Keith Wilson told Independence police that his son had told him that he had been sexually abused in the past by his step-father, James Matthias. So Wilson made a decision on Saturday to kill Matthias when he came to pick up Wilson’s son.

The son told police that Wilson, his biological father, twice sent him inside his house to get a Christmas present when Matthias came to pick him up. When the son didn’t find the gift a second time, he told police that he walked out of the house in time to see Wilson shoot Matthias in the head with a .357 handgun. Wilson then handed him a cell phone and told him to call 911.
