Throwback Thursday: Listen to Appleseed Cast’s ‘Mare Vitalis’ ahead of their Sunday Riot Room show

Appleseed Cast’s current lineup may have only frontman Chris Crisci remaining from the days of Mare Vitalis, but that doesn’t mean that Crisci and his crackerjack group of young bucks can’t delve deeply and find the reserves necessary to play the album in its entirety.
The album, released by Deep Elm in 2000, is one of those albums that’s just so gorgeous and perfect in every way. It’s big and ringing. Most importantly, it’s full of things that remind us acutely of what it feels to be young and confused and painfully aware of one’s own awkwardness — and that finding solace in music such as this was a way out for most of us.
