Gay partner of a Missouri Highway Patrol trooper killed in action sues Missouri for partner benefits

A Missouri High Patrol trooper was killed in the line of duty on Christmas Day 2009, struck by a vehicle while investigating an accident on Interstate 44 in Eureka. In a bullshit move, the state of Missouri has denied Cpl. Dennis Engelhard‘s partner benefits even though Glossip was named as a beneficiary.

How can the state deny Engelhard’s spouse survivor benefits? Because Engelhard’s partner of 15 years, Kelly Glossip, is a man.
