Juan C. Garcia, KCMO homicide 44: 16-year-old boy shot to death (updated)

Update (1:24 p.m. June 2): The Latino Advocacy Taskforce is holding a prayer vigil for 16-year-old homicide victim Juan Carlos Garcia at 6:30 p.m. today outside of the Garcia family home at 15th and Belmont — where Garcia was shot and killed on Memorial Day.
Garcia was a student at East High School, where he was a member of the A+ Program.
Original story (6 a.m. June 2): Juan C. Garcia, 16, was the victim of Monday’s homicide in the 1500 block of Belmont.
Witnesses told police that Garcia was arguing with
another man in the street around 3:22 p.m. when the suspect (described
as a Hispanic man in his twenties) shot Garcia and fled in a gold
Dodge Caravan.
Garcia died at a local hospital.
