Woman claims masked man raped her at knife-point in the Northland
A 23-year-old woman stepped out of her apartment for a smoke break Wednesday around 10:20 p.m. claimed she was raped by a masked man.
The woman told police that she was smoking a cigarette on the patio of her apartment in the 7000 block of Northwest Chatham Avenue around 10:15 p.m. when a man sneaked up behind her, covered her mouth making it hard for her to breathe, put a knife to her throat, pulled down her shorts and inserted his penis into her vagina from behind.
The woman screamed and elbowed the suspected rapist in the throat, causing him to run off. The woman described him as having long hair and wearing a black cloth over his face and black gloves. She said he never spoke.
The woman refused medical treatment at the scene. Officers noted that the woman’s neck showed redness. The woman also told them that her legs were sore.
