Mike Sweeney to babysit baseball’s Mr. Furious

Former Royals slugger Mike Sweeney is a five-time All-Star and a guy with a big heart.
Sweeney’s current employer, the Seattle Mariners, is putting the 36-year-old hitter’s warm and upbeat nature to good use. Sweeney has reportedly been assigned a locker next to Milton Bradley, one of the game’s most notorious hotheads.
Seattle acquired Bradley — who has spent time in jail, torn up a knee while being restrained by a manager and sought a confrontation with Royals broadcaster Ryan Lefebvre — from the Chicago Cubs during the off-season, a deal widely seen as an exchange of damaged goods.
Royals G.M. Dayton Moore tried to acquire Bradley in 2007 for reasons that only he can explain.
