Daniel, 23, at the Peanut

By NADIA PFLAUM

Daniel was wearing his signature macadamia nut shell necklace with a Marc Ecko shirt last Sunday at the Peanut for Hip Hop and Hot Wings, shattering my previous assumption that men look terrible in jewelry.

“It was a gift from my homegirl,” he says of the necklace.

His style? “To be honest, it’s like a New York influence,” he says, even though he’s from Miami, “and hip-hop, to be specific. There’s some Jamaican in there too. I like rude boy culture, the grunge and grime type of thing. Everyone’s wearing this Coogi, rainbow dress code. I do pinks and yellows and sky blues on occasion, but they’ve gotta be done right.”

So he’ll wear Miami hues, but not Miami shoes. “I’ve never owned a pair of Air Forces in my life, even though they’re huge in Miami. I like casual low tops. Adidas Sambas – I’m on that Euro footwear trend.”

Daniel’s style advice for KC men? “Support your independent clothing line designers. You want one-of-a-kind? Rep yo’ city. A lot of indy people do their own thing, out of they house.”
