Greyhound to expand Kansas City and Columbia services in light of Megabus’ departure

The departure of Megabus from the Kansas City and Columbia, Missouri, markets has left an opportunity for a low-cost bus service to shuttle people — often, college students — between KC, Columbia, St. Louis and Chicago. Greyhound today announced that it intends to fill that vacancy. The company — which Megabus in many ways was attempting to supplant — says it will drop prices in KC and Columbia.
“In addition to lower fares, we are looking to provide seamless connectivity at the University of Missouri, Stephens College and Columbia College with a stop near campus where it is more convenient for students to catch a bus,” says Andy Kaplinsky, chief commercial officer of Greyhound Lines Inc. “We already offer affordable fares, but we want to ensure that students and the travelling public stay connected with friends and family in Missouri and across the United States.”
“We will continue to focus on providing safe and convenient transportation to customers in Missouri on our modern buses with premium amenities, such as free Wi-Fi, power outlets, extra legroom and reclining leather seats.”
How low are the fares?
