• Peter Rugg found good reason to hope that Union Station CFO M.A. Chaudry is passed over for the city manager position in Iowa City, Iowa, in favor of another candidate.

V for Vendetta cosplay enthusiasts mounted a not-at-all ineffectual protest against Scientology as part of the Internet group Anonymous’ worldwide demonstration. Nadia Pflaum got some video and interviewed participants.

• We looked at some local Bigfoot footage — recently taped but as blurry, choppy and indistinct as any oxidized 8-mm footage shot in the ’50s and inappropriately stored in a cigar box at the back of a drawer.

• David Martin loves him some baseball and also some baseball blogging. Rany Jazayerli returns to the local baseball blogging scene just in time for training camp.

ON THE WAYWARD BLOG

• On Monday Music Junkie, Andy Vihstadt broke out a little R.E.M. Also: Philadelphia’s Man Man, Lyrics Born, the New Pornographers, Besnard Lakes and a good many others.

• Caleb Goellner went to see a Saosin show at The Granada and then wrote about it in his journal while sitting in a coffee shop smoking Gauloise Blondes and sipping a hot chai.

• Andrew Miller reviewed Marilyn Manson’s show at the Uptown Theater.

No Grammies for Old Men.

• Andrew Miller reviewed the hauntingly beautiful Troglodyte show at the Riot Room, which used to be the Hurricane.
