Kansas City Crime starts the 2008 Kansas City dead pool. “Sorry no prize, just the lingering feeling that you live in one of the

most violent places on earth,” writes Old Fat Cowboy. “Just the unsettling feeling that you or

one of your loved ones may be the next victim of a stray bullet while

riding a bus, a stabbing while buying some groceries or a beating while

waiting walking in a park.” Comforting. So far, no one has taken a guess. And just a tip: Dead pools don’t go over so well in this city.
