Get ready for Bike Week

In November 2007, I talked to a number of local cycling enthusiasts, who told me about their run-ins with ignorant or abusive motorists who don’t know how — or don’t want — to share the road with their two-wheeled brethren. While Kansas City is moving in the right direction when it comes to making the streets more welcoming to all modes of transit, the best way to reduce the tension is to increase the visibility of those who travel to work and play on Treks and Cannondales, rather than Toyotas and Chryslers. 

That’s the aim of the fourth annual Bike Week festivities that kick off this weekend. Here’s a handy summary of the seven days of cycling.
