Trick Heavy

Professional magician Eric Price, who was shot in the head by a trio of teenagers about six months ago while he was sitting in his parked car at 74th Terrace and Broadway, quickly found that he had a solid support system. “So many KC fans helped me though my ordeal with the fund that Waldo Pizza spearheaded,” he says. Back to hiding tennis balls and making balloon teddy bears, Price is seen the first Monday of every month at the Waldo Pizza location in Lee’s Summit (1543 Douglas, 816-875-2121). But on every other Monday, he’s turning tricks at Waldo’s Waldo Pizza (7433 Broadway, 816-363-5242) from 6 to 8 p.m. He has worked at this original location of the family- and beer-drinker-friendly restaurant for the past 11 years. “It’s harder with a tube in your eardrum and your ear filling with fluid,” he explains. (Half his jaw is numb because it was shattered in the attack.) But he’s just as shifty as ever.
