Royals draft Bubba Starling … but will he sign or go big red?

Bubba Starling has a decision to make: Sign a multimillion-dollar contract with the Kansas City Royals or go to college and play football and baseball for the University of Nebraska.
The Royals selected the hometown hero yesterday with the fifth pick in Major League Baseball’s draft. But the 6-foot-5, 195-pound center fielder from Gardner Edgerton High School had already committed to play college football and baseball at Nebraska. The Star‘s Sam Mellinger writes that Starling could be looking at a $6 million (or more) contract if he signs on to play pro baseball. Or he could play quarterback and center field for the Cornhuskers and get an education — and get laid a million times (not that that’s going to be a problem for him wherever he goes). Starling, who grew up a Royals fan, was noncommittal during a conference call last night.
