Robert Howard Jr., KCMO homicide No. 25: Man found shot in burning car, dies

UPDATE: Kansas City police have identified Wednesday’s homicide victim as 38-year-old Robert Howard Jr.

Original Story (April 21): A man found in a burning car at 54th and Wabash was shot and later died from his injuries, making him Kansas City, Missouri’s 25th homicide victim of 2011.

Kansas City police responded to an injury accident around 11:09 p.m. after a car crashed into a fence. Police found the victim, described as a black male in his late 30s, inside the burning car. Officers pulled the man from the car and realized that the man was suffering from a gunshot wound.
