Closed: Cafe Seed and Amor Picante

One of my co-workers says he’s still waiting for the vegan tacos he ordered from Cafe Seed … in 2009.
He was only half-joking. The cozy little vegan restaurant at 2932 Cherry was legendary for its incredibly slow service. Each dish was cooked to order in the tiny kitchen, so diners usually waited a long time for a meal to finally arrive at the table. But the food was great, once you got it.
Fat City reported, just a little over a month ago, that Cafe Seed had new owners and had cut back its hours to three days a week. And it was going to start offering dinner theater in the space behind the building.
Now the restaurant is closed. For good. Greg Patterson, who is leasing the building, says he’s had “a lot of interest” from other local restaurateurs for the ground-floor space in the World War II-era building. He’s got an even newer location up for lease, too.
