Big 12 men’s basketball tournament will stay in Kansas City through 2014 as planned

Finally, we have definitive word that Kansas Citians won’t be losing the Big 12 men’s basketball tournament. The conference wrapped up its annual meeting Tuesday in New York and announced that the championship is staying here through 2014 as scheduled.
“Kansas City has a rich college basketball history and remains an attractive destination for our men’s championship. It is an integral part of the Big 12 footprint, and staging our championship at Sprint Center reinforces the strong presence of the conference in the Greater Kansas City area,” Big 12 Conference athletics director chairman and Iowa State University athletics director Jamie Pollard said in a statement.
