Freak (freek) n.
(plural freaks)
1. strikingly unusual person, animal, plant: a person, animal, or plant that is strikingly unusual, and appears to be unique or occurs very rarely (offensive in some contexts)
Let your freak flag fly!
Aquarius/Aquarius Rising*(Jan 20-Feb 19): By the time we reach the 11th sign, we are almost home, Dorothy. A flaw in your preceding sign of Capricorn is that the freaky behavior has to be hidden or only the 1 percent know about it. You ain’t having none of that. You are that strikingly unusual person who challenges others to lighten and loosen up. Venus is in Aries until March 5. She will be wearing red and taking no prisoners! Your mind becomes even more experimental (if that’s even possible), and so does your mouth. It is an excellent time to take a spontaneous trip from Mt. Olympus, or any ivory towers, to get in touch with the common folk. Face it, you are rarely a materialistic snob, but you do not suffer fools silently. You provoke the slow thinkers and conventional people with no regrets. Value your independence while figuring out precise ways to trip the light fantastic (and fanatic). The only tornadoes you’ll have to worry about are those that uproot you, lest you become too much like an emotionally stifled and repressed Capricorn.
Pisces/Pisces Rising (Feb 18-Mar 20): Another definition of freak is a “fanatic: somebody who is fanatical about something (informal), a club for fitness freaks.” With your adaptable water bee-hind, you enter into certain atmospheres, pick up and surrender to the vibrations, and you’re off on some extreme adventure (especially when you’re away from home). The fact that your modern ruler Neptune has just entered your sign, you have one of the best placements for letting go of how you present yourself in order to please others. And you can too easily overdo this need to be all things to those around you. Until March 5, let Value Added Venus stoke your passions about what makes you feel good about being you. No more flying your freak flag at half-mast as if you are ashamed of yourself. Let the world believe what it wants to; you can give us something to talk about …
Aries/Aries Rising* (Mar 21-Apr 19): It’s not unusual (or freaky) for you to be unable to get along with members of the same sex. A fanatic for the underdog and all forms of competition, be that physical or mental, that’s you in your insecure zone. Starting, stirring and stealing something, that’s you, too. Starting new stuff and new ways of perfecting your work, look backward at your incomplete projects to go forward; these are ways to turn your singular freak into an acceptable freak. Stirring up our resistance to change and seeing things your way, that’s another aspect of the freak. If you’re going to be a thief, please steal our hearts with your inspirational and courageous self.
Taurus/Taurus Rising* (Apr 20-May 21): Your life resembles a follower of Epicureanism, a philosophy devoted to the development of a heightened sensuality. In your insecure freaky manner, you can easily become overattached, addicted and materialistic. When confident, you exhibit this definition of freak: somebody unconventional: somebody who is thought to behave unusually or have unusual tastes or habits (informal insult). However, I am not insulting you. I see you as an Epicurean or an ancient royal taster. For you, it’s all about the senses, how you can experience the joy of being physical. Once you learn to control your appetites, that is, not go to extremes, you shine. Venus in Aries can indicate an increased awareness of dreams and past lives. Continue to exhibit and give more compassion within your relationships.

Gemini/Gemini Rising* (May 21-Jun 20): I think, therefore I freak. More likely to begin as an observer of our indelicate or extreme behaviors, you eventually imagine what you really can get away with. During midwinter, you get these visions of how to communicate a more optimistic future for you and yours. You move between what you think is acceptable and what you imagine to be “out there.” Thoughts are not to be judged as wrong or bad. But you’ve got to let your mind lead you out of what you consider to be conventional. Your life can be as simple as “do what you will, but harm none.” Hey, not my words – this motto was started by St. Augustine. Be unusual and live life fully.
Cancer/Cancer Rising* (Jun 21-July 21): Yo’ mama, aka Playing the Dozens began what we now call “trash talk.” Sensitive with a hard shell, that’s your freaky mix. You’ll talk more trash than anyone while not showing how it can hurt you. It may be time to leave your armor behind. There’s no shame is showing where your vulnerabilities lie. Particularly when you trust someone, it becomes increasingly important to drop your defenses. Unless we know where you can be hurt, we may keep on talking trash. If it’s love that you want, you must soften up enough to receive it. There’s a new cycle for the next three weeks that love may find you through your career (and you could find you have more joy in your work).
Leo/Leo Rising* (July 22-Aug 22): Even your normally conventional self has to admit that freaks are unusual individualists of the highest sort. You do realize that the freaks come out at night. You respect folk who have the courage or chutzpah to live without worrying about what other people think of them. Secretly, you respect their strength. Well, that trait exists within you. With pleasure-seeking and -giving Venus moving through passionate and supportive Aries, you have an open path to transforming your philosophy of how to live better with those closest to you. It’s all about sharing your true self, not dominating or controlling how we see you. Refuse to be dominated by your insecurities, and definitely do not act from them.
Virgo/Virgo Rising* (Aug 22-Sept 22): Last week, I wrote about the “Age of Aquarius.” This is the 21st century, and women in the U.S. Senate have taken on the assertion that they cannot believe we are still having a conversation regarding birth control for women. The American soul has become freakishly dishonest as it relates to sex. Yes, an ability to self-identify as a freak means thinking for yourself as it relates to how you experience pleasure, and the consequences thereof. Consciousness and freak identified go hand in hand, in the very real sense that the most balanced and illuminating “freaks” have an awareness of their difference, their ability to think for themselves.
Libra/Libra Rising* (Sep 23-Oct 22): Venus blazes a new trail in your seventh house of partnership and the “other” through Aries until March 5. When you become too indecisive, you desire your “other” to become pushy, direct and even aggressive. Then, decision making gets easier … follow or leave. Keeping your eye out defensively does not always work. Be unique but trust yourself to be real. Anytime any planetary teacher moves through Aries, you learn to be in the moment, standing up courageously for what or who really matters. Realize it is not about your serving another person as it is more about your serving a mutually agreed upon ideal or value within the relationship. Submissiveness is not synonymous with being weak, not at all. If you need reminding, wear red, a fiery color to symbolize your increased spirit and self-affirmation. Oh, and how are you a freak? It all comes down to your idea of fairness and social justice (or lack of it).

Scorpio/Scorpio Rising* (Oct 23-Nov 21): Begun in Libra, please read their message first. Like the scale bearer, you have an innate need for balance; it just comes through your witness-bearing soul, and your motives are usually entirely more complicated. Can you even figure them out? Your motives, that is, not Librans. Without some steady and consistent psychological work, no you cannot. The origins of the word “freak” are unknown, possibly Old English frician, which means “to dance.” And dance, you shall. The way you move your body between dark and light is amazing. You and Aquarius probably freakishly came up with the phrase/concept “friends with benefits.” Not that there’s anything wrong with that precise kind of hookup. Remember, it is the why behind your actions that matters. Let Venus help you begin again with anyone you’ve taken an extreme stance on. Life is for the living and the present. Let go of those harmful pasts.
Sagittarius/Sagittarius Rising* (Nov 22-Dec 19): You are merrier when the numbers are larger. After all, you were born during the holidays. I believe we reflect the time of year in which we were born. Sunny Leos, taciturn Capricorns, and who’d not say that Scorpios are not spooky like Halloween? Your changeable fire emits such a glow during any and all celebrations. Playful and erotic Venus blazes a new trail through Aries. You have the planetary green light to explore your unusual tastes (get your freaky groove on). This is not the time to sit idly by and let others take the lead. So what if you are judged to be impetuous? Too bad repressed others cannot take, let alone see, the joke. Use this Saturday to reinstitute a “date night” with your beloved. Make up your own holiday or reason to celebrate. You’ll love it, if you do.
Capricorn/Capricorn Rising* (Dec 21-Jan 19): Out of all the 12 signs, you’d be the closet freak. Your tastes can be so refined that you need to remember how to be down and dirty. You’re like the child all dressed up but who is drawn to playing in the mud. It’s not a trashy or ghetto fabulous thing. Or is it? Oh, please admit, at least to yourself in a quiet moment, that you can have class issues. It’s the silent freak in you, judging luxuries as you do. Permit yourself to dream, to see how you can have more of what you enjoy in your life. Release those messages that keep you mired in poverty consciousness or feeling that you can rarely have what (or whom) you really desire.
