Jackson County workers are (very) slowly closing the wage gap on their JoCo counterparts

It may take awhile, but Jackson County workers are closing the wage gap on their Johnson County counterparts. A study conducted by the Business Journal’s On Numbers blog found that the wages of Jackson County employees grew by 2.86 percent to an average annual salary of $48,068 as opposed to Johnson County workers, who experienced annual wage growth of 2.75 percent to $49,049 between 2000 and 2010.
The study used data from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis to look at the wages in the largest 1,000 counties in the United States. Jackson County ranked 656th for annual wage growth, while Johnson County was 725th. Both ranked ahead of Wyandotte County (916th), where the annual salary grew by only 2.24 percent to $43,774. Just something to keep in mind as you circle the want ads on both sides of State Line.
