8.9 magnitude earthquake, tsunami kill hundreds in Japan

Hundreds of people were killed in Japan when an 8.9-magnitude earthquake spawned a tsunami. In the coastal city of Sendai, between 200 and 300 people were found dead — and that number is likely to grow, CNN reported.
