2015 World Series Tickets Down 19% Since Wednesday

The Kansas City Royals will enter the World Series for the second straight season. Last year the Royals were defeated by the San Francisco Giants in seven games, but the Royals will again look to win their first World Series since 1985 when they host the New York Mets, starting with Game 1 on Tuesday night.

According to TiqIQ, the average price for Royals World Series tickets over the team’s four possible home games is $1,237.07 on the secondary market. That marks an 18.9% tumble from last Wednesday’s $1,525.68 average. Prices have declined so much that the Royals’ 2015 World Series appearance is now cheaper on average than last year’s Fall Classic against the San Francisco Giants, where tickets averaged $1,473.32 across all four games at Kauffman Stadium, a 16% drop.

The opening game of the series Tuesday night is currently generating the least ticket demand among all seven potential games. Tickets for Game 1 average $855.70 with the get-in price starting at $352. It will be the only game that averages below the $900 mark and just one of two games that averages below $1,300. Matt Harvey (13-8, 2.71 ERA) gets the nod for the Mets while the Royals are expected to start Edinson Volquez (13-9, 3.55 ERA), though manager Ned Yost has remained tight-lipped about the official alignment of his starting rotation.

Game 2 Wednesday night will be the only other game that owns a secondary market ticket average below $1,300. With the Mets starting Jacob deGrom (14-8, 2.54 ERA) against what is expected to be Johnny Cueto (4-7, 4.76 ERA in 13 starts for Kansas City this season), the average price for Game 2 is $928.76 and the get-in price is $303.
