18-year-old shot after asking for two quarters, reportedly suffered life-threatening injuries

Some stories just make you sick at how shitty humans can be to one another. For example, Monday night an 18-year-old man was shot in the abdomen after asking for 50 cents in the parking lot of the Blue Valley Market at 43rd Street and Cleveland Avenue.

The Kansas City Star reported that the guy had life-threatening injuries. How depressing is it, that asking for two quarters might get you killed?
