17-year-old’s mere presence thwarts home invasion

Freaky story out in Johnson County. A young girl was left home alone in rural JoCo when a burglar broke into the home around 10 this morning.

The girl heard a loud bang at the front door and hid inside the home in the 15800 block of Meadow Lane. About the same time, her 17-year-old brother returned home to find an early ’90s model GM car sitting in the driveway. The boy asked the guy — described as a black male — what he was doing. The guy told him he was with a lawn care company. Would have been plausible had he not thrown the car in reverse and sped away.
